Shelley Davis is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans ceramics, painting, sculpture, mosaics, installations, and large-scale murals. Born and raised in South Africa, Shelley carries the textures, colors, and cultural layers of her early environment into an expansive body of work that bridges traditional craft and contemporary expression.
After relocating to the United States, Shelley spent many years in Chicago, Illinois, where she developed a parallel career as an arts educator, teaching students of all ages and advocating for the transformative power of creative practice. Her time in Chicago deepened her commitment to community-engaged artmaking and shaped her belief that art is both a personal pursuit and a public service.
Davis now lives and works in Buchanan, Michigan, where she maintains her home studio, on the Breezy Knoll. There, she continues to explore materiality and form through multidisciplinary experimentation, often drawing on elements of nature found in her own vibrant garden. Her work appears amongst private collections, public spaces, and collaborative community projects.
Whether shaping clay, painting, or guiding new artists, Shelley brings a distinctive voice to every medium—one rooted in movement across continents, disciplines, and creative possibilities.
